The EV transition in commercial vehicle fleets started in earnest about ten years ago. Many lessons have been learnt including the importance of looking after the vehicles and charging kit properly.
Generally the total cost of ownership for an EV bus is far lower than a diesel or hybrid, and if maintained well the up time is far greater.
So fleet operators are seeing significant saving now, after initial investment, but was vehicles come out of warrantee there could be a skills gap, where servicing and repair work transfer from the manufacturer to the operator.
Luckily most operators see this coming and invest in training and tools to keep the wheels turning.
